The herringbone half double crochet stitch has such a unique texture! The unique slanted look of this crochet stitch looks best in turned rows.
Supplies You’ll Need
Scrap yarn of your choice. In the video, I’m using a worsted weight acrylic yarn called KnitPicks Brava Tweed in the Wasabi colorway. You can buy it here- it’s one of my yarn stash favorites!
A crochet hook that works well with your yarn- I’m using a Furls Streamline Metal Hook in the I 5.5mm size. Buy one here- these are SO good for crocheters with hand pain issues!

Written Instructions
Chain any number of stitches, plus one extra turning chain. My swatch of 10 stitches started with a chain of 11.
Yarn over and insert your hook into the 2nd chain from your hook.
Yarn over and pull through both the stitch AND the first loop on your hook, in a slip stitch motion.
Yarn over and pull through the remaining 2 loops on your hook to complete the stitch.
Continue across the row.
To work another row, chain 1 and turn, then continue as before.
