Looking to make a fun textured afghan pattern? This quilt block, part of my Quilt Block Bobble Square Series, is just what you’re looking for!
Traditional quilt blocks inspired this fun textured crochet afghan block. The bobble stitches add so much interest with no pesky color changes needed.
You can combine this quilt block with all-over bobble texture with my original Quilt Block Bobble Square to create really interesting patterns and designs on your blanket.
Did you know this pattern is part of a series? You can find the original textured square here, and there are several others in the collection, too!

Notions: Yarn Needle and Scissors.
How much yarn do I need to make a blanket from afghan squares?
Your yarn yardage requirements to make a full blanket from this square pattern depends on how big you want your final blanket to be. For a typical afghan that measures 4′ x 5′ you’ll need 20 squares, which would be a little less than 20 blocks.
If you’re combining this pattern with some of the other squares in the Quilt Block Bobble Square series, you’ll probably need less yarn- the bobble stitches tend to be “yarn eaters,” meaning that each bobble stitch uses up quite a bit of yarn compared to a simple double crochet.
Since this particular pattern has more bobbles than any of the others, it uses the most yarn of the bunch.
