Traditional quilt blocks inspired this fun textured crochet afghan block series. The bobble stitches add so much interest with no pesky color changes needed.

Materials
H/5.0mm Crochet Hook – these are my favorite ergonomic hooks- I can crochet longer with these than any others I’ve tried before!
1 skein Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Yarn, Medium [4] weight, 100% Acrylic yarn, 3.5oz/100g, 170yds/156m, shown in Honey colorway.
You’ll also want a yarn needle and scissors for finishing. They’re a great item to add onto an online order from your favorite yarn shop to make the free shipping minimum!
Abbreviations
Ch- chain
Dc- double crochet
Sk- skip
Sl- slip
St- stitch
Gauge / Finished Size
12” x 12” square after blocking.
7 dc and 3.5 rounds in 2” square.
Special Stitches
Bobble: (Yarn over, insert hook into stitch indicated, yarn over and pull through 2 loops) 5 times, yarn over and pull through all but last 2 loops, yarn over and complete stitch.
Notes
This blanket square is worked in joined rounds from the center, and the “wrong side” of the work will face the front of your blanket.
Turning chains do NOT count as a stitch throughout.

Bobble Border Quilt Block Crochet Square Pattern
Round 1: Ch 4, sl to form a ring, ch 2, (dc 3, ch 2) 4 times, ch 2, sl st to top of first st to join. [3 sts per side]
Round 2: Ch 2, *dc in each st to corner, (dc 2, ch 2, dc 2) in ch-2 space,* rpt * to * around, dc in each st to end of round, sl to first st to join. [7 sts per side]
Round 3: Repeat Round 2. [11 sts per side]
Round 4: Repeat Round 2. [15 sts per side]
Round 5: Repeat Round 2. [19 sts per side]
Round 6: Repeat Round 2. [23 sts per side]
Round 7: Repeat Round 2. [27 sts per side]
Round 8: Repeat Round 2. [31 sts per side]
Round 9: Ch 2, {dc in next 3 sts, bobble in next st} 4 times, dc in next st, *(dc 2, ch 2, dc 2) in ch space, dc, {bobble, dc in next 3 sts} 7 times, bobble, dc,* repeat * to * 2 times, (dc 2, ch 2, dc 2) in ch space, dc, {bobble, dc in next 3 sts} 3 times, bobble in last st, sl to first st to join. [8 bobble sts and 27 dc per side]
Round 10: Ch 2, dc in next 19 sts, work 5dc in ch-2 space, *dc in next 35 sts, work 5dc in ch-2 space,* repeat * to * twice more, dc in next 16 sts, sl st to first st to join. [40 sts per side, or 160 sts in final round]
Finishing:
Fasten off and weave in all ends. Block lightly if desired.
