If you enjoyed the Chesapeake Beanie pattern, you will love this bucket hat version! Who can resist a good bucket hat pattern? This one is simple, yet full of eye-catching design with the star stitch border.
Bucket hats can be for any season, but they are perfect for the summer as they are lightweight and keep the sun out of your eyes. The pattern is written to be used with worsted weight yarn, whether you choose acrylic or cotton.
I made one of each with different color schemes – the acrylic features a black base with a mustard yellow star stitch and the white outlining the star stitch border. The cotton version, I went with the idea of a two-tone vibe, but also monochrome style. If you aren’t familiar with monochrome styling, it is pairing items together that are the same color but different shades. It can be such a fun concept to show off your favorite color and express yourself!

Just like the Chesapeake Beanie, the bucket hat version features the fun herringbone half double crochet and the gorgeous band of accented star stitches. This one is just as much fun to make as it is to wear!
Happy crocheting!
Materials Needed for the Chesapeake Beanie Pattern
I/5.5 mm Crochet Hook – I prefer using a Furls Streamline Metal hook with acrylic yarn- shop them HERE!
Loops & Thread Yarn, worsted [4] weight, 100% Acrylic, 7oz/198g; 354 yards, shown in Black, Mustard, and White colorway;
You can also use a cotton yarn such as Sugar n Cream as a great substitute.

You’ll also want a pair of scissors, a stitch marker I love these and a yarn/tapestry needle for weaving in your ends. I buy Yarn Needles on Amazon Here, and I prefer buying 3.5″ stork embroidery scissors from Amazon here. They’re cheap and compact enough that I can keep one in several project WIP bags!
