If you’re looking for a quick, easy and fun crochet project, you came to the right place. This kindle sleeve pattern uses the moss stitch, which gives a lovely texture and is great for beginners.
If you have made one of any of the Spokane patterns, you will like this one just as much. This pattern actually uses remaining yarn from my Chunky Spokane Hat pattern – a one-hour beanie. Be on the lookout, because there is a coffee cozy pattern coming too. So, you can make the beanie, the kindle sleeve and the coffee cozy all from a SINGLE skein.

The only difference with this Spokane pattern is that you won’t be using the yarn over slip stitch for this one. You only use the moss stitch. I even used some left-over yarn from my Driftwood Beanie to make a third kindle sleeve. I couldn’t resist – they work up so fast and are fun to make.
The moss stitch has been one of my favorites for years- though I first learned it as the granite stitch when I made this lovely cowl. It is a simple crochet stitch, and it offers such texture to any crochet project.
I use it so much that I even recently made a video tutorial for the stitch. You can watch that here.
Here’s what you’ll need to make one:
I used a crochet hook in the N/10.0mm size. With a single crochet pattern, I always use a chunky ergonomic hook like this one, or my hands get sore so fast! This one from Furls is my Favorite.
You will use Wool Ease Thick & Quick yarn or another super bulky weight of your choosing. But you can pick from LOTS of colors for this one. Check them out here!
The exact colors I chose were Oatmeal and Raisin, which I thought was too cute of coincidence that I was drawn to those colors.
Of course, you’ll want a yarn needle, stitch markers, and scissors, too, but I’ll bet you have those in your project bag already!

Spokane Kindle Sleeve
Work in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker to keep track if desired.
Ch 10
* Check to make sure this is the right width for your kindle. If not chain until it is the desired size. Make sure when chaining it is an odd number + 1.*
Round 1: sc 2 into second ch from hook, sc in next 8 ch, sc 3 into same ch, sc 8 across. [21] If you are using a stitch marker, go ahead and place it in last stitch to keep track.
Round 2: sc around [21]
Round 3: Sk first sc, sc in first ch st, *ch 1, sk 1, sc,* repeat * to * around.
Round 4: *Ch 1, sk 1, sc,* repeat * to * around. [21]
Repeat Round 3 until the kindle sleeve is just about as tall as you desire. (I stopped at Round 14). Adjust your rows as needed to fit the height of your Kindle.
Round 15: sc around. [21]
*Check to make sure this is a good fit for your Kindle, if not just add a few rows and make sure the row ends in an odd number.

Finishing:
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Weave in all ends.
Block lightly if desired.
