How to C2C Crochet
There are several special terms and crochet stitches you’ll need to be familiar with to work a corner to corner blanket pattern.
Block: Ch 2, work 3 dc in ch2 space of block indicated. For your very first block, you will need to work an increase. This is noted in the pattern.
How to work the C2C Increase
Increase (inc): Ch 5, dc in 3rd ch and next 2 ch.
Side-Increase (side-inc): ch 2, sl to the side of the block, ch 2, turn, 3dc in the ch 2 sp. You will use this increase to work in join-as-you-go strips, which prevents seaming in the end. YAY!
C2C Decrease Instructions
Decrease (dec): Sl to edge of adjoining block, turn, sl in next 3 dc, then continue as normal.
Special Stitches for the Border
To crochet the optional border, you will use these stitches:
Herringbone Half Double Crochet (hhdc)- Yarn over, insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over and bring up a loop, pull last loop through next loop on hook, yarn over and pull through to complete st.
Reverse single crochet (rev-sc)- insert hook in stitch to the right, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through to complete st.
How big is this crochet throw blanket?
The finished blanket from this pattern measures approx 44” x 56” excluding the optional 1.5” wide border.
Can I make this blanket in a different yarn weight or size?
Want to adjust the gauge, size, or yarn weight? You can customize your blanket to any weight and size, but keep in mind that having an even number of blocks per row gives the blanket a more orderly flow.
For a more randomized look, consider making a scrap yarn cake and working in continuous panels.
Have fun experimenting!

I’m so excited to try this blanket! I have gobs of scraps! How do you make a scrap cake?
Katie says
Hi Anna Marie!
I have a post on how I make a scrap cake here: How to Make a Scrap Yarn Cake if you’re looking to make a continuous and funky scrap blanket. For this specific pattern though, I ended up cutting my yarn after each stripe, because I wanted the stripes to be unique. Hope that helps answer your question!

The colours are stunning. I may have wool scraps but that is a large amount of bits of wool. I are curious as to how you can arrive at so little wool left over after a project.
Katie says
Hey there, Rose!
I am always trying new projects and making different sizes for samples for my blog and gifts and what not- so I tend to accumulate a huge hoard of scraps!
For this specific project though, I simply made sure to use scraps big enough for each stripe, and cut them to size after I had finished my row- so you could definitely make it work using new balls of yarn and even a random stripe generator if you’re looking for a more put-together blanket!
Hope that helps,
Katie
