Coffee cozies are such a quick and fun crochet project. Especially when using a super bulky weight yarn. This coffee cozy pattern uses the moss stitch to make a simple and textured crochet coffee sleeve. If you have made the Chunky Spokane Hat and the Chunky Spokane Kindle Sleeve, you will have enough yarn from those two projects left over to make this coffee cozy.
I set out to make one to three projects from one skein of yarn. This was a fun challenge to tackle. So, from one skein of this yarn, you can make: a beanie, a e-reader sleeve, AND a coffee cozy. These sets would make great gifts for Christmas OR they would make great sets for your holiday market. Every pattern works up quickly – an hour or under for each one. You could even sell them individually if you’d like.

Like the kindle sleeve Spokane pattern, the moss stitch the only stitch used, and you won’t be using the yarn over slip stitch for this one.
The moss stitch has been one of my favorites for years- though I first learned it as the granite stitch when I made this lovely cowl. It is a simple crochet stitch, and it offers such texture to any crochet project.
I use it so much that I even recently made a video tutorial for the stitch. You can watch that here.
Here’s what you’ll need to make one:
I used a crochet hook in the L/8.0mm size. With a single crochet pattern, I always use a chunky ergonomic hook like this one, or my hands get sore so fast! This one from Furls is my Favorite.
You will use Wool Ease Thick & Quick yarn or another super bulky weight of your choosing. But you can pick from LOTS of colors for this one. Check them out here!
The exact colors I chose were Oatmeal and Raisin, which I thought was too cute of coincidence that I was drawn to those colors. It made me think of oatmeal raisin cookies.
Of course, you’ll want a yarn needle, stitch markers, and scissors, too, but I’ll bet you have those in your project bag already!
