Do you love boho crochet style? Are you a lover of tasseled and fringed crochet projects? Looking for a quick and fun summer gift? Join me for the Bonnaroo Babe Boho Bag Crochet Along!
I’m in love with crochet bags lately. (No seriously, I’m obsessed!) And it seems like a lot of you are, too! Over in my Salty Pearl Crochet Circle Facebook group, I had a poll asking about what sort of crochet along you guys would like, and one of the projects suggested was a boho crochet purse!
I was SO inspired by that idea! I got to crocheting right away, and this stunning bohemian fringe purse is what I came up with.
When the pattern went into testing, I was even more inspired by my amazing testers’ gorgeous photos! Here’s a photo from @LisaKolarFrakes on Instagram:
We had so much fun in the Testing Pool that I decided to host a Crochet Along for the bag! This is a perfect summer CAL project, because it uses just over 100 yds! That’s just one skein of crochet goodness. Perfect!
When Do We Start?
Part 1 of the Pattern will come out on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, before 12 noon, EST.
Part 2 will be released on Thursday, July 5, 2018, before 12 noon, EST.
The CAL will be live until August 3, 2018 at 12 noon, EST.
The full PDF version of the Pattern is already available for Purchase on Ravelry HERE. It’ll be discounted for the event! SO if you want to buy it, make sure you do before August 3!
How Can I Join In the Fun?
Joining the CAL really just means hooking the project with us. You don’t have to do more than that, but it’s SO much more fun with friends!
I invite you to join us in my Salty Pearl Crochet Circle to ask questions, share photos and compare yarn choices.
Or, if you prefer, share your photos on Instagram. You can tag me @SaltyPearlCrochet and use the hashtag #saltypearlcal so we can find each other!
I’ll be giving away a few free copies of the pattern to people who upload their projects to Ravelry HERE, look for details in the blog post for Parts 1 and 2!
Will it be free?
Yes! For a limited time.
This pattern will be available for free on the blog as a CAL for until August 3, 2018.
After that, you can find the pattern for sale on Ravelry and Etsy.

Materials for the Bonnaroo Babe Boho Bag Include:
H8/5mm Crochet Hook – Furls Streamline is back in stock in H!
1 Skein Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, (4) Worsted weight 100% mercerized cotton, 100g/186 yds. Pictured in Ecru (Want your yarn faster? Order on Amazon Here!)
Leather and Chain Purse Strap – here’s the one I’m using!
D Rings for attaching your Strap- I bought these on Amazon
I’m in LOVE with the leather strap I found on Amazon! The leather feels so soft and supple, and the swivel clips mean the chain never twists.
Isn’t it so gorgeous? Plus, the clips make it removable, so you can swap it between all your crochet purses, or make two in different colors!
What Stitches are Used?
Here’s a handy list of the stitches and abbreviations used in this purse pattern. They’re all basic stitches, so even a beginner could make this! Everyone who has tested the pattern said this project was a breeze to make, and you’ll be able to ask questions here on the blog or compare photos and notes in the Salty Pearl Crochet Circle!
Ch- chain
Sc- single crochet
Dc – double crochet
Sk – skip
Tr- treble crochet
How Big is the Purse? What’s the Crochet Gauge I need to meet?
My Crochet gauge was:
7 double crochet and 4.5 rows per 2”
Since this isn’t a garment, your gauge isn’t super crucial, but it will affect the size of your finished bag, as well as yardage required.
My finished bag was approximately 6.5″ tall by 7.5″ wide, excluding tassels.
It’s a smaller purse, but it has more than enough room to fit your essentials- like sunglasses, your cell phone, and a wallet.
Can I Crochet the Handle?
Yep! It’s your bag. As a free spirit myself, I love giving you options to make my patterns truly your own!
There will be multiple options for styling your bag’s handle written into the pattern. I will include at least two crochet options, and one leather handle option. I love the versatility of the detachable leather handle, but the possibilities are endless!
