Hello, and Happy Valentine’s Day! I know it’s a few days early, but I’m feeling so festive this year! In the spirit of the holiday, I’ve got a gift for you: a free crochet ear warmer pattern! Far and away my most popular pattern on the blog is my Chunky Cabled Heart Hat. (The Toddler/Child size is FREE on my blog, and there’s a paid version available for $5 that includes baby and adult sizes as well.) The bulky yarn and fun crochet cable pattern really make for a fun, quick project for a Valentine. I’ve wanted to make myself one to match my daughter’s beanie for a while now, but I don’t often wear beanies, so I decided that a Crochet Headband Pattern would be just the thing!

My 6 year old son helped me take this photo! Isn’t it just sweet how helpful little ones love to be? I think it came out pretty well!
Since there’s no ribbing, this crochet ear warmer pattern works up super quickly! You’ll need much less than one skein of yarn, and any Super Bulky (6 weight) yarn will do. Two of my favorites are from Lion Brand Yarn- I used Wool Ease Thick & Quick in the blossom color way for my daughter’s hat, which you can see below. I took this adorable photo on our visit to Illinois this January- it was about -6 F for this photo. Brr!
I chose to use Lion Brand’s Hometown USA for my ear warmer. They don’t precisely match when seen side by side, because I chose a warmer coral color to match my skin tone, but they definitely coordinate! This yarn is a dream to work with! It’s easily one of my favorites, and as a special treat, I’m hosting a giveaway for one lucky winner to receive a ball of LB Hometown USA Plus the L/8mm Boye Ergonomic Hook you’ll need to make either this Ear Warmer or the Chunky Cabled Heart Hat. Click Here to enter the Giveaway! You’ll find it at the bottom of the In Stitches! Crochet Pattern Party.
