One of my absolute favorite boho hairstyles is the chunky boho crochet headwrap look. There’s something so flawlessly beautiful about a messy, tousled topknot that makes me feel both incredibly comfortable and effortlessly stunning. So, I’m sharing this adorable crochet headwrap pattern with you on the blog today!
What could be better, you say? I’ll tell you: a beginner friendly crochet head wrap pattern!
Yep. Looking at this gorgeous twisted head wrap, you’d think it was a super complex knit pattern, right? But this is actually a Tunisian crochet headwrap pattern for beginners.
This was actually my VERY first Tunisian crochet project, and I know you’ll love it! (Both the crochet headwrap AND Tunisian crochet, that is.)

Begin the Twisted Boho Crochet Head Wrap Pattern
Ch 20.
Row 1: Pull up a loop in the second ch from hook and each ch across, then complete a normal return pass.
Row 2: Working through the center of the stitches on previous row, skip the first stitch and pull up a loop in each stitch across, then complete a normal return pass. [20 Tks]
Rows 3-34: Repeat Row 2 for 32 rows, or until piece measures 8”.
First Short Row Section
Row 35(A): Working through the center of the stitches on previous row, skip the first stitch, and pull up a loop in the next 9 stitches and complete a normal return pass. [10 Tks]
Rows 36-50(A): Repeat Row 35(A) (15) times, or until the short row section measures 4”, then fasten off and weave in ends.
Second Short Row Section
Row 35(B): Make a slip knot, and slip stitch to the first unworked loop before row 35(counts as first loop), then working through the center of stitches from the previous row, draw up a loop in the next 9 stitches and complete a normal return pass. [10 Tks]
Row 36(B): Working through the center of each stitch, skip the first st and pull up a loop in the next 9 sts and complete a normal return pass. [10 Tks]
Rows 37-50(B) Repeat Row 36(B) (14) times, or until the short row section measures 4” and matches the first short row section.
Make the Twist
Row 51: Working through the center of stitches from the previous row, skip the first stitch and pull up a loop in each stitch across, twist the opposite short row section behind your work, and pick up 10 more loops across the first short row section, then complete a normal return pass. [20 Tks]
(Hint: work tightly when adding in the new row- it likes to stretch out and leave a gap.)
Row 52-89: Repeat Row 2 for 36 rows, or until piece measures 20” total length (or fits your head).
Row 90: Holding right sides of headband together, slip stitch together to close into a headband.
Finishing
Fasten off and weave in all your ends.
