Crochet this gorgeous cottage core head scarf with just a little bit of fine yarn- perfect for using up those gorgeous impulse buys! This simple twist on a traditional shell stitch gives and elegant and airy lace look that’s perfect for all seasons.
If you love this delicate, open lace as much as I do, but aren’t a fan of fine yarn, you could also try my Venus Shell Slouch Hat (it has a matching cowl, too!), the Venus Shell Shawl, or even this cute cocoon cardigan pattern!
Materials
For this project I used my F/3.75mm size Furls Streamline wood Crochet Hook. I highly recommend using an ergonomic hook for such delicate lace! Shop Furls Streamline wood hooks here.
You’ll also need a small amount of super fine [1] weight yarn. My head scarf weighed in at 21g, so it was less than 100 yards of yarn, and I could have easily made 4 of these from one ball.

Notes
This head scarf is worked from the top center down in turned rows. You’ll be increasing at both ends of the piece, and in the center with an easy one-row repeat pattern. That means the piece will have the same number of shells on each half of the row as your row number.
