Crochet Dishcloth Sizes
Traditionally, crochet dishcloths measure between 6″ square and 7.5″ square. However, larger farmhouse style dishcloths measuring between 9″ square and 11″ square are becoming more popular lately, too.
There really isn’t a right or wrong size, but usually, you can make two 6″ square dishcloths from one standard ball of cotton yarn. You’ll need extra yardage to make a very large or very textured dishcloth.
You might also find a few smaller crochet scrubby patterns here, too. Sometimes, these are simply textured circular dishcloths anywhere from 3-5″ in diameter. Other times, a heavy duty scrubby might be a thick triple layered sponge around 3″ x 4″ when folded together and sewn shut.
Best Yarn for Crochet Dishcloths
Cotton makes the best fiber choice for crochet dish cloths.
Kitchen cotton yarns are very absorbent, but still dry out easily. They’re also super durable, and can stand up to being used for scrubbing.
My absolute favorite yarns for dishcloths are Knit Picks Dishie and Lily Sugar ‘n Creme.
