Looking for the perfect gift for a crocheter? There are so many great ideas that aren’t yarn, if you think creatively!
Crocheters tend to be a little more difficult to shop for, as some of us get quite obsessed with yarn! You can certainly start at a gift guide like Etsy’s Holiday Hub Here, but if you’re not a crocheter yourself you might spend hours looking for something that will feel meaningful.
That’s why I took some time to put together a list of some gifts that your favorite crocheter will love. Most of these are items I’ve purchased and love, but there are also a few gift ideas for crocheters that are still on my personal Christmas list!
7 Gift Ideas for Crocheters (that aren’t yarn!)
1. Ergonomic Crochet Hooks
Comfortable and ergonomic crochet hooks are far and away the best gift you can give any crocheter! When you’re taking better care of your hands, you’ll be able to crochet for even longer, and every single crocheter I know wants that. Here are some of my personal favorite hooks to crochet with:
Furls Streamline Crochet Hooks
My all time favorite crochet hook is a wooden Furls streamline, but it’s all personal preference! Sometimes a metal or acrylic hook works better with the yarn I’m using.
You can buy Furls Streamline Wood Hooks Here
or Shop for Streamline Metal Hooks Here
and Streamline Swirl Hooks Here
If you really want to splurge and pamper your favorite crocheter, you can look at Furls Alpha limited edition hooks HERE, and there are a few really neat custom hand turned crochet hooks available on Etsy, too!
Other Brands of Ergonomic Crochet Hooks
I’ve been using Furls hooks exclusively for long enough to have built up a full set now, but before I could afford them, I also liked these crochet hooks:
Addi Swing – Search them on Amazon HERE
Clover Soft Touch Crochet Hooks – Buy on Crochet.com HERE
Clover Amour Crochet Hooks – Get them on Crochet.com HERE
Ophire Azure Crochet Hooks – Buy them at Crochet.com HERE
There are also a bunch of ergonomic crochet hook options on Etsy! You can even find sets with all sizes of crochet hooks and a stand like this.
2. Crochet Hook Displays and Holders
If your favorite crocheter already has enough hooks, consider getting them a fancy display to showcase their favorites! Hook caddies are great for keeping crochet hooks organized and easy to reach for. Or if they like to crochet on the go, you can get a protective case for the hook, so it won’t be damaged or scratched up in a project bag.
Small Crochet Hook Holder – Get it HERE from Rustic Rose WoodShop on Etsy
This gorgeous wood hook holder is the perfect size for holding ergonomic crochet hooks like a Furls. This smaller square hook holder has 17 slots, and it’s about 5″ square on the base. Mine sits neatly on my bookshelf near my crochet chair, so it doubles as a bookend and decor piece!
Large Crochet Hook Holder – Get it HERE from Rustic Rose WoodShop on Etsy
You’ll love this one if you’ve got a few different sets of ergonomic hooks! Since I often like to use hooks with different materials, I have more hooks than will fit neatly in my smaller display. So I treated myself to this one! It has 22 slots, and 2 spaces to hold tools like yarn needles and stitch markers, a measuring tape, or scissors. I’m still trying to find the perfect hooks to put in it, and a place to keep it.
Purpleheart Wood Hook Display – Furls also has some gorgeous wooden crochet hook displays! – You can purchase one here. Don’t you think this would be so fun to keep on a table beside your crochet spot? The only problem is choosing which 5 favorite hooks to keep in it.
Fountain Pen Cases to Display Hooks – This display case on Amazon is on my list!
Another great unique idea is a fountain pen case. I prefer the display cases with a window. Just be sure to check that it is long enough to fit- some of my Furls hooks are 6.75″ long, and most fountain pens are around 6-6.5″. I hadn’t found a travel case big enough to fit any hooks besides my single Alpha (they’re only 6″) yet.
3. Yarn Bowls
These handy crochet tools are great for keeping yarn balls from rolling around, but they also can function as a style piece! There are so many different types of yarn bowls available- one for every style you can imagine!
Rosewood and Mango Two Tone Yarn Bowl – Check Price at WeCrochet Here!
This yarn bowl is so gorgeous, it will make your WIP a part of your home decor. It fits right in my crochet library room, and it helps keep my yarn tidy!
Harmony Yarn Bowl – I also have a lighter yarn bowl from Furls. The small one is just right for little projects like a dishcloth! – You can purchase one HERE.
There are so many fun 3d printed and ceramic yarn bowls available on Etsy, too! Click here to see all the yarn bowls available on Etsy.
If your favorite crocheter is also a fantasy lover, they might like this dragon yarn bowl, or lovers of the gothic / dark academia / witchy aesthetic might love this yarn bowl that looks like a skull.
You can also find yarn bowls with a cat theme like this adorable one, or even a neutral pottery yarn bowl like this.
4. Tension Rings
For crocheters who like jewelry, tension rings are such a unique and fun gift! These open rings have slots for yarn to glide through- meaning they won’t have to squeeze their hand quite as much.
You can search all sorts of tension rings available on Etsy here if you like to shop small. My personal favorites are this snake tension ring, a dachshund puppy ring, or this adjustable ring with a loop so the yarn won’t drag across your skin.
5. Yarn Holders and Skein Minders
Loops and Threads Wood Skein Holder – Get it at Michael’s HERE
I used this lovely wooden skein holder when I was making my Chesapeake Scarf and Beanie set. It made crocheting much smoother, and it looks great, too! Seeing my yarn around really makes my house feel homey, and it helps me find more time to crochet, too!
The only thing that would make it better is if there was room for a second skein- like this one I found on Etsy from CraftyCre8iveCo- Buy it HERE.
This adorable yarn wristlet is great for crocheting on the go! These are an absolute luxury when you’re flying with your crochet- you don’t want your yarn ball to roll away when you can’t get up to chase it!
Get one on Etsy from KBHCreate HERE
I haven’t tried the one from KnitPicks, but I have it on my Christmas list!
6. Project Bags
Drawstring Project Bag – I got this project bag from Crochet.com a while back, and I absolutely love it! I usually have it with me in my airplane carry on when I’m traveling.
You can find more cost effective options on Amazon, like this project tote – I love that it comes with grommet holes for yarn to feed through!
Colorwork Project Bag – Get it from WeCrochet here!
This little project bag helps to keep different colors of yarn organized. I love how practical this is! One of the most frustrating parts of colorwork is getting your yarn balls tangled together.
Make sure to search on Etsy for customizable options, too!
7. Stitch Markers
Crocheting gets so much easier if you know how to use a stitch marker! These are so helpful for keeping track of your pattern, marking stitches, or even keeping your working yarn from unraveling when you set your project down for a minute.
These trinkets are perfect for a stocking stuffer or secret Santa gift, too! You can find some really pretty affordable options.
FYI for non crocheters, knit stitch markers with a closed loop don’t always work for crochet! Our stitch markers need to be removeable, or they’ll get stuck.
Safety Pin Style Crochet Stitch Markers – Get them on WeCrochet here!
This is the classic crochet stitch marker- a safety pin style one. You can shop for a little case to go with them, too if you’re feeling generous! These guys like to try and escape in your couch cushions and such.
Custom Stitch Markers – Shop on Etsy here!
You can find all sorts of really neat customized stitch markers here! Whether they’ll love colorful moon stitch markers, or a little tin of plain ones, stitch markers with gorgeous enameled flowers, or even Video Game themed ones like these Zelda stitch markers, you can find it on Etsy!
